The fatigue of early pregnancy can feel overwhelming. Your body is working around the clock to form the placenta, expand blood volume, and balance new hormones. Progesterone rises quickly and has a calming effect, making many feel unusually sleepy. It’s your body’s way of asking you to slow down.
Tiredness is usually most intense during the first 12 weeks, then gradually eases. Rest whenever possible, eat regularly, and stay hydrated. Foods rich in iron and protein can help your body cope. If you feel dizzy or weak, ask your midwife to check your iron levels.
Feeling constantly exhausted isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s proof that your body is doing tremendous work. This phase passes; let it take the space it needs.
Alma’s tips:
• Rest without guilt—your body is building life.
• Keep blood sugar steady and drink water often.
• Remember: tiredness means everything is working.
