It can feel stressful or sad when pregnancy doesn’t happen as quickly as you hoped. Many people believe it should happen right away, but for most, it takes several months — sometimes a year or more.
For conception to occur, several things need to work together: ovulation must happen regularly, sperm must be healthy and mobile, and the fertilized egg must attach properly to the uterus. Factors such as stress, hormonal imbalances, weight changes, age, or certain medical conditions can all affect fertility.
If you’re under 35 and haven’t become pregnant after a year of trying, talk to a midwife or gynecologist. If you’re over 35, it’s recommended to seek help after six months.
Alma’s tips:
It’s normal for it to take time — you’re not alone.
Be open with your partner about how you’re both feeling.
Ask for help early if you’re worried — support is available.
