In weeks 36–38, the baby continues to mature rather than grow at the same pace as before. Space in the uterus is now more limited, which means movements often feel different. They may be slow shifts, pressure from within, or rolling motions. Now you should feel movements every day, in the way that is normal for your baby, even if the type of movement changes.

The baby practices stretching, bending, and adjusting position, but no longer has room for larger movements. The body stores energy, and the skin becomes more resilient. This is a period mainly focused on preparation, rather than major visible change.

For the pregnant person, the body may feel heavier with more limited mobility. The uterus may press higher, affecting breathing, sleep, or comfort while sitting or standing. A sense of downward pressure is common as the pelvis adapts. The body continues to carry and stabilize, even if it feels slower than before.

This is the calm final phase of pregnancy. The body is not building as much now — it is preserving and preparing. Much of this work happens without being felt from the outside.
