Newborns begin with very small amounts when bottle-feeding — often 10–30 ml per feed during the first days. Their stomach capacity is tiny and grows gradually. Frequent small feeds are normal, and the early amounts are perfectly suited to their digestive system and maturity.
The most important aspect is following your baby’s cues. Some babies take breaks, suck more slowly, or turn their head away when satisfied. You should never feel pressured to make your baby finish a bottle — your baby’s signals matter more than any number on a bottle.
