Being pregnant can feel like standing between two realities — as if life continues on the outside, while something completely different unfolds within. Your body changes every day, yet your mind can’t always keep up. You go to work, make plans, talk as usual — and still, you carry an entire new universe inside you.

This feeling of living in two worlds is both biological and emotional. The brain slowly rewires itself to adapt. Research shows that areas responsible for empathy, memory, and intuition actually grow during pregnancy. This can heighten your awareness — making everything around you feel sharper, deeper, or strangely distant.

Sometimes it feels like others can’t see what’s happening inside you — as if your biggest transformation is invisible to the world. That quiet sense of aloneness doesn’t come from being isolated, but from living in a different reality than everyone else.

Yet this “in-between” space is also a kind of preparation. You’re learning to exist in two rhythms — the outer and the inner. It’s the beginning of what many parents later describe as double awareness: feeling both yourself and your child at once.

Alma’s advice:

• Let yourself move at two speeds — your inner rhythm and the world’s.

• Write down your dreams or passing thoughts; they help your mind catch up.

• You don’t have to understand it all. Just being present is enough.

You’re not divided between two worlds — you’re expanding into both.
