Swimming in the sea during pregnancy is completely safe. The water can even help ease swelling, pain, and heaviness. You can swim as long as you feel well and the water looks clean and comfortable. Avoid very cold water, as it can sometimes trigger mild contractions, and stay away from polluted areas.

Chlorinated pools are also safe, but always shower afterward. The sea often provides a wonderful feeling of lightness and can be a great way to stay active even when your body feels heavier.

If you experience contractions, dizziness, or bleeding afterward, rest and contact your healthcare provider if symptoms persist. Otherwise, swimming can be a soothing and healthy part of pregnancy.

Alma’s tips:

  • • Avoid cold dips if you notice contractions.

  • • Choose calm, clean beaches.

  • • Change into dry clothes right after swimming.
